What The Hell Am I Doing?

Have you ever come to a point in your life when you looked around you and thought, “What the hell am I doing?”

That thought came to me more lately as I looked around me. I looked at where I have been and where I am now. What the fuck man?!

Enough of this exploring and be the person I wanna be and ought to be. Last week was it. I used to not care of who’s my supervisor. Even if he/she is younger than me, if this person knows what he’s doing, that’s fine. I took a job for the knowledge and experience.

But what would really piss me off when I find that the person who becomes my boss does not have enough knowledge, yet he only delegates tasks, works less and gets paid more. And I can’t stand it if above all that, the person is also irritating.

Like my new boss. The first day he joined he irritated me already . By lunch on his second day I felt like slapping his nearly bald head and by the end of the day I wanted to punch him on the face.

Late Michael Jackson said, “This is it”. THIS IS IT for me too!

I think a lot of us underestimate our capabilities and talents. Or probably it is more of our fears that stop us to do great things and stuck doing mediocre jobs under people who can “talk” better and/or “look” the part.

What I found that we need to stop for a while and think of our accomplishments. This weekend it really hit me when I thought about what I’ve experienced.

Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering.
Graduated from Marquette University, WI, USA.
Pioneer team (employee number 26) in starting up Silterra (M) Sdn Bhd, the first Semiconductor Manufacturing Foundry in Malaysia, working closely with top management, CEO, Directors, consultants.
Team Leader for Industrial Engineering department.
Developed softwares not only for my department but for others too.
I solved third-party software bugs on my own because their software support team couldn’t help to solve it.
Won Best Performer title every year for Silterra Idol singing contest.
Produced and directed five minute sketch for my department which won Silterra Five Minute To Fame competition.
I’ve started a restaurant.
I could built websites in minutes.
I know how to make videos, editing and market it online.
Drum circle lead facilitator in team building events.
Played the guitar and can learn musical instruments fairly easy.
I rescued and care for 13 dogs.
I’ve been feeding myself with leadership and self-development books and seminars since I was 18.

And what the hell am I doing now?

This is it. It’s time for me to start a movement. I’ve started many challenges for myself before… 90, 60, 30 Day Challenge. All failed.

But this time it’ll be different. I’m going to start a movement. I’m gonna make a change based on what I learnt about life and from my Engineering experience.

I’m going to start a 40 Day Movement and I’d like to invite you to join me.
