Picking a book, it seems to be only normal that we focus on the deeply intricate, posing an intellectual challenge to our minds. “Suddenly I See” by Chetz Togom defies the need for this. The author brings the meaning of plain and simple and lays it out in perfect structure for our eyes to see. Both comically childish and fearlessly female in some words, one would definitely catch themselves smiling at very familiar adolescent mischief and bittersweet tragedies of womanhood many face. But most of all, a certain unspoken yet lingering willpower is apparent throughout the brief journey Chetz Togom brings us through.

What is different about this book is not it’s boasting about the successes the author goes through upon her discovery of the balance of the universe, but instead the way in which she emphasizes and cherishes each and every failure she faces that serve as her trampoline while laying face down, flat on the ground. It’s the epiphany or AHA! moment that a lot of people experience but fail to address that is highlighted very honestly in this book. The author gives a very human touch, explaining precisely what her realisation of the meaning of an essentially happy life is in ways to which many of us can relate.

Those who have read The Pearl by John Steinbeck would spot the similarity between, for the lack of better word, “supernatural” occurrences Chetz Togom faces and also the qualities she learns from Joe Vitali that for a moment paints an uncanny resemblance to that of the character of Juana. One thing you can’t avoid while reading this is the raging hunger, to share. “Suddenly I See” is written in a so much goodwill and rocked in a cradle of care, making it almost impossible to miss the author’s message of wanting to share and improve the lives of those who take the initiative to read it.

If you’re one to look for flowery crafty sentences presented flamboyantly, this may not be the exact cup of tea. However, if one is willing to give viewing the world in a clear cut, straightforward picture, this short great read will take you by surprise. Absolutely no frills attached, and still, beautiful.
